La catena americana 'Cracker Barrel Old Country Store and Restaurant' ha prodotto una compilation gospel in CD di 12 brani dal titolo 'Elvis Gospel' che è disponibile solamente attraverso i loro punti vendita.

THE HILLBILLY CAT LIVE

Uno dei leggendari bootleg in vinile, 'The Hillbilly Cat Live' è stato riedito dalla Graceland Records in una veste tutta nuova.
la confezione digipack cartonata ha una grafica completamente rinnovata - a colori invece che in b/n - rispetto al vinile pur mantenendo similitudini con la foto scelta per la copertina.
Il contenuto ci presenta lo show del 23 Agosto 1970 (dinner) preso direttamente dal nastro originale della registrazione amatoriale con una qualità audio notevole. Questa registrazione era già stata utilizzata nel vinile originale che però era la combinazione di due show, questo del 23 Agosto e quello del 24 Agosto (midnight).
La Graceland Records ha avuto la possibilità di lavorare sulla cassetta originale dello show, registrato in stereo proprio davanti al palco, e con le tecnologie odierne è riuscita a ricavarne una qualità audio notevolmente migliore della versione in vinile. Inoltre, al contrario del vinile, in questo CD è presentato l'intero concerto del 23 Agosto (dinner) con l'eccezione della parte finale di 'suspicious Minds' e di 'Can't Help Falling In Love' (che purtroppo non furono registrate), sostituite con quelle del giorno successivo.

Questo nuovo prodotto, confezionato in uno splendido digipack ci presenta entrambi gli show (dinner e midnight) del 26 Agosto 1973 a Las Vegas ricavati dalla registrazione 'two mike live ambience' (cioè due microfoni in diretta posti ai lati opposti del mixer) opportunamente 'restaurata' per ottenere un piacevole ascolto.
Il Dinner Show era ancora inedito mentre il Midnight era già stato pubblicato nel 2002 nel CD 'Caught In The Act' della Memory Records ma in Mono...

LATE NIGHT IN LA

La nuova etichetta Verve ha annunciate l'uscita del CD 'Late Night In LA' contenente una versione molto migliorata (a livello audio) dello show dell'11 Maggio 1974. Questo concerto è già stato edito dalla FTD insieme al libro 'Live in LA' ma in quel caso la velocità è erroneamente più bassa e anche i livelli non sono ben equalizzati; anche la versione successiva della FTD senza il libro manteneva le stesse lacune di sound. Ora per la prima volta si potrà ascoltare questo concerto con i livelli e la velocità corretta e con un ulteriore miglioria del sound che renderanno lo show ancora più godibile...

Il CD è in vendita a meno di 5 sterline su Amazon UK ma la cosa più curiosa è addirittura il macroscopico errore nel titolo dove la parola 'Hawaii' viene scritta senza la 'H'...

Questo nuovo CD della Straight Arrow ci presenta lo show del 29 Settembre 1974 a Detroit, MI, una delle performance più controverse di questo ingaggio che per molti fan è stato un vero e proprio disastro.
In questo CD Elvis canta per poco più di 30 minuti in totale; dopo solo una ventina di minuti dall'inizio dello show Elvis lascia il palco per ritornare dopo quasi mezzora e concludere lo show.
La registrazione è amatoriale ma la qualità audio è molto apprezzabile. Il disco è accompagnato da un libretto fotografico di 16 pagine.

In arrivo prima di fine anno su etichetta ‘Memphis Recording Service’ in associazione con ‘Joseph A.Tunzi (JAT Productions) un nuovo esclusivo combo CD+libro. Il CD conterrà tutte le registrazioni live di Elvis alla Louisiana Hayride.
Tutte le 29 tracce saranno remasterizzate usando la più sofisticata tecnologia odierna ottenendo una pulizia audio mai sentita fino ad ora. Il CD conterrà anche la perormance del Dicembre 1956 scoperta recentemente. La nuova etichetta Backdraft ha prodotto recentemente il box di 4CD 'Rebooked At The International', contenente materiale live dal Gennaio/Febbraio 1970 incluse numerose registrazioni multitraccia della RCA non utilizzate per l'album 'On Stage'.

Dalla Gravel Road Music un nuovo doppio CD dal titolo 'Sittin' On The Top Of The World' contenente lo show del 12 Agosto 1970 (midnight) a Las Vegas. Questa nuova emissione offre per la prima volta il completo show di circa un'ora e mezza nell'originale stereo mix registrato nel 1970.
Accompagnato da un packaging accattivante e graficamente impeccabile la GRM vuole stupire ancora di più i fans includendo un booklet a colori di ben 24 pagine e un incredibile bonus regalo: l'esatta riproduzione del plettro color tartaruga come quello usato da Elvis per le prove del TTWII, in esposizione a Graceland o che appare nel libro 'Elvis by the Presleys'.

Di recentissima uscita dalla Venus Productions il nuovo CD 'Unedited Masters - Stax 1973'.
I primi 14 brani del CD sono perlopiù master tratti dalle Stax Sessions, alcuni con overdub altri senza tra i quali spicca l'inedito e completo master di 'Promised Land' dove lo stesso Elvis esegue l'armonia vocale.
Le 11 tracce bonus sono nivee state tutte registrate dopo lo show dell'Alosa per poter essere incluse nello special che sarebbe andato in onda qualche mese dopo.
Tutti i brani del CD hanno una qualità a dir poco straordinaria e non vi è alcuna presenza di fade-in o fade-out… ossia tutti i brani sono presentati integralmente dal primo fino all'ultimo centesimo di secondo!

La Memories si ripresenta con un doppio CD dal titolo 'Baltimore Nightfall' contenente lo show amatoriale di Baltimore del 29 Maggio 1977.

48 HOURS TO MEMPHIS

In Settembre la FTD farà uscire il CD '48 hours to Memphis' che conterrà la registrazione multitraccia del concerto del 18 Marzo 1974 a Richmond, in Virginia. LA registrazione è stata effettuata due giorni prima dello storico concerto di Memphis registrato dalla RCA per l'LP 'Live on stage in Memphis'. E' stata unascoperta incredibile: la registrazione di questo show proviene da un nastro privo di etichette di riconoscimento che successivamente è stato riconosciuto come una copia esatta dell'originale master registrato a 16 tracce.
Questo CD sarà presentato dalla FTD nel formato cartonato deluxe a 45 giri con un libretto di 16 pagine.
Lo show di Richmond era già uscito parecchi anni or sono in qualità soundboard nelk CD 'Guaranteed to Blow Your Mind' della Diamond.

Il 28 Gennaio durante una fredda sera di New York Elvis fece cadere l'America nel caos quando apparve nello spettacolo televisivo della CBS Stage Show condotto dai fratelli Dorsey.
Il 4 Febbraio, durante la seconda apparizione, cantò un brano che cambiò letteralmente il modo della musica popolare, "Heartbreak Hotel".
Il sound e lo stile unico impressionarono chiunque e furono solo un preludio a quello che sarebbe accaduto da lì a breve: in Aprile Elvis sarebbe stato al 1° posto della classifica di Billboard.
Questo incredibile balzo in avanti nella storia della musica ebbe risonanza in milioni di adolescenti di tutto il mondo ed ispirò anche svariati artisti di successo di oggi a cantare o a prendere in mano una chitarra... tutti volevano essere come Elvis.

ELVIS IN THE BEGINNING / MR. DYNAMITE

Nel 1955 per promuovere la performance di Elvis all'Arkansas Municipal Auditorium di Texarkana, Elvis Scotty e Bill fecero un'intervista condotta dal suo manager di allora Bob Neal;
Questa è una delle prime interviste conosciute, registrata a Memphis.
LA JAT Records insieme alla Memphis Flash Records ha riprodotto fedelmente il vinile originale con una nuova ed accattivante cover ed in aggoiunta ha anche riprodotto il tour book denominato Mr Dynamite, ricco di foto e storie di un giovanissimo Elvis, che il Colonnello Parker fece produrre nel 1956 e che veniva venduto durante le performances di Elvis.

FIFTH TIME AROUND

La Audionics ha annunciato l'emissione del leggendario concerto del 20 Marzo 1974 a Memphis.
Questo show è stato edito in varie occasioni, a partire dall'originale emissione della RCA nel 1974 che conteneva applausi aggiunti ed era incompleto. Seguito poi dalla versione più completa della Fort Baxter del 1994 con il CD 'Steamroller Blues' che però era tratto da diverse sorgenti. Nel 1997 import abbiamo una versione migliorata inclusa nel box 'Platinum - A Life In Music" e alla fine la Follow That Dream ha emesso la sua versione quasi completa e con un packaging favoloso.
Ma anche questa ultima ed eccellente versione della FTD non contiene il concerto proposto nella sua vera completezza: infatti alcuni dialoghi sono tagliati, manca la falsa partenza di 'Help Me' e molti fans non sono stati soddisfatti del lavoro di mixaggio hanno reso il sound troppo 'compresso' e con l'aggiunta di troppo riverbero...
In questo nuovissimo CD la Audionics ha lavorato sul DAT originale del mix registrato al Coliseum, senza fare alcun remixaggio, senza tagli, senza riduzione di rumore, senza compressione, senza aggiunte di alcun tipo, senza reverbero artificiale o oltri effetti.
Solo il puro reale e naturale sound!

THE REAL ELVIS

La Sony ha annunciato per il 20 Giugno l'uscita di un CD singolo e di un triplo CD dal titolo "The Real Elvis".
Queste emissioni sono una reazione della casa discografica ufficiale di Elvis al fatto che le emissioni di 'pubblico domminio' (dopo la scadenza dei diritti di copyright) stanno invadendo il mercato Europeo.
Il prezzo per il CD singolo sarà di 1.46 Sterline (circa 2 Euro mentre il triplo CD verrà venduto a 2.59 Sterline.

YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE

La Straight Arrow ha prodotto un nuovo CD dal titolo "YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE" (SA 2011-20-02) contenente lo show del 19 Luglio 1975 a Uniondale, New York (show delle 20,30).
Questo show era già stato edito dalla Claudia Records ben 17 anni fa nel CD "Americas Own Vol.2", che però era incompleto e tratto da una copia scadente del nastro originale.
La Straight Arrow èriuscita a procurarsi il nastro originale direttamente dalla persona che registrò lo show, senza alcun taglio e nella miglior qualità audio possibile.
Il packaging è completato da un libretto di 16 pagine ricco di foto e recensioni.

La nuova etichetta Omega Records ha annunciato il suo primo CD dal titolo dal titolo "Drowned In Sound" contenente lo show multitraccia/soundboard del 24 Agosto 1969 (midnight) a Las Vegas.
Questo show era già stato edito dalla Diamond (DAE) 16 anni fa col titolo “Here I Go Again” e le ultime tre tracce (Suspicious Minds, What´d I Say, Can´t Help Falling in Love) erano state tratte dallo show del 3 Agosto.
In questo nuovo CD l'etichetta ha annunciato che lo show sarà invece completo a parte “What´d I Say” che è estratta dallo show del 24 Agosto (dinner).
LA confezione sarà digipack e conterrà un libretto di 12 pagine con foto sul palco e non dell'Agosto '69.
