NUOVO PROMO PER L’ ARGENTINA

La compilation “Elvis – Ultimate Gospel” sarà emessa in Argentina il 18 maggio. Alcuni promo su vinile sono stati creati ma solo per pochi responsabili della BMG Argentina e non sono stati distribuiti alle radio. Questi promo hanno una durata di soli 48 minuti e 12 secondi poiché la maggior parte delle canzoni sono solo un estratto del brano completo.

Il prossimo CD della Follow That Dream contenente una serie di registrazioni live tratte dall'ingaggio di Elvis a Las Vegas del Febbraio 1970 si chiamerà "Polk Salad Annie"... un titolo sicuramente appropriato per il periodo!

PROMO POLACCO

In Polonia una ditta farmaceutica, la Novartis, ha stampato un doppio CD promo dal titolo "150 tysiecy pacjentów nie może się mylic" che significa "150 pazienti non possono sbagliare". 

Il set contiene il brano "Love Me Tender" in due versioni: un CD contiene la versione di Elvis e l'altro la versione cantata dal Presidente della compagnia farmaceutica.

Il cd di luglio della Follow That Dream, il cui titolo provvisorio è "Elvis On Stage Revisited - Live Vegas Recordings from February 1970" uscirà il 1° luglio 2004 e conterrà registrazioni tratte dai concerti del febbraio 1970 a Las Vegas. 

Sebbene Ernst Jorgensen in precedenza non avesse confermato questa notizia, ora la conferma arriva dal sito ufficiale di Elvis Presley. 

La scaletta sarà nota appena la FTD fornirà quella ufficiale.

NUOVI CD DALLA MEMORY

La Memory Records ci regalerà ancora due concerti a fine Aprile 2004.

Si tratterà ancora una volta di registrazioni amatoriali ripulite a dovere per rendere il massimo in fatto di qualità audio.

On The Road Again
"L'incredibile successo dell'ingaggio Agosto/Settembre a Las Vegas venne seguito da un breve tour negli stati del sud ed Elvis era pronto ad esibirsi in alcune città che non toccava dagli anni '50.

Il Memorial Coliseum a Portland, Oregon fu la seconda data  del tour e la buona forma di Elvis era visibile fin dalla sua entrata sul palco.

Una sentita "How Great Thou Art" è sicuramente la migliore performances della serata. 

Questa è la seconda versione live della sua carriera ed è più simile alla versione registrata in studio nel 1966 che alle versioni successive, molto più drammatiche e monumentali.

11,800 spettatori furono ancora una volta testimoni del ritorno di Elvis "On The Road Again"

Shining In Portland
"L'anno è il 1973 e molte cose sono cambiate dall'ultima visita di Elvis a Portland. Durante l'ingaggio del Febbraio 1973 a Las Vegas Elvis non sembrava in  gran forma fisica e psichica. Eppure, egli concluse l'ingaggio con un'eccellente Closing Night il 23 Febbraio.

Due mesi più tardi è ancora 'on tour' partendo con un 'solido' show a Phoenix in Arizona.

E a metà del tour, Elvis si esibì ancora a Portland.

Era lo stesso luogo, c'era la stessa band ma Elvis era un cantante diverso in uno show diverso.

Questa performance è più corta e più pulita del concerto del 1970. Alcuni brani sono cantati con sentimento e passione, specialmente la drammatica e semi-biografica ballata "You Gave Me A Mountain", "What Now My Love" e "I'm Leavin'". Tra i pezzi migliori dello show troviamo "Steamroller Blues“ che elvis introduce come "My latest record, ladies and gentlemen“… ed era stato il più recente singolo tratto dall'album live dell'Aloha. 

Questa ora con il Re culmina con una esplosiva versione deel grande successo del 1958 "A Big Hunk 'O Love."

La Reader’s Digest ha emesso "Elvis Presley's Greatest Hits", un cofanetto di 5 CD. Questa edizione ha la copertina identica a quella in vinile del 1977 comprendente 6 LP.

Il fan club francese My Happiness emetterà il CD "Elvis Chante Jerry Leiber & Mike Stoller" che dovrebbe essere in vendita entro la fine di maggio. THE KING IS DEAD

L’etichetta Memorium Records emetterà una nuova conpilation bootleg di 3 CD contenente uno show del 16 agosto 1977 originariamente trasmesso su una radio inglese alle ore 23 del giorno in cui  Elvis morì. Si possono ascoltare i vari collegamenti con i giornalisti che quel giorno si trovavano a Memphis. Sicuramente un’ emissione contenente materiale di grande valore storico.

SINGOLO DELLE “SWEETS”

La Frixion Records di Los Angeles produrrà in collaborazione con la rivista danese Elvis Unlimited il primo singolo delle Sweet Inspiration dopo più di 20 anni. Esso conterrà, oltre a "Midnight Randzevous" e "Secred Love" anche una versione moderna del brano “Sweet Inspiration”, un loro successo che nel 1968 arrivò al 5° posto nelle classifiche Rhythm & Blues, ma conosciuto dai fans soprattutto perché le  “Sweets” lo cantavano spesso prima dei concerti di Elvis.

Le colonne sonore della Follow That Dream saranno emesse una alla volta insieme ad altri prodotti. La prima sarà Spinout ed è, come abbiamo detto in precedenza, prevista per maggio. Inoltre pare che uscirà abbinata ad un libro.

Secondo una fonte attendibile la colonna sonora di Spinout sarà emessa dalla FTD a maggio. Gli altri due titoli previsti in origine per la stessa data, cioè "Paradise, Hawaiian Style" e "Double Trouble" sono stati posticipati a data da definirsi.

Questo CD proviene direttamente da Mcau e si trova in vendita esclusivamente nei supermercati della zona, per questo è già considerato un raro oggetto da collezione.

THE IMPOSSIBLE DREAM

Wow, pare che al contrario di quanto annunciato in precedenza, il prossimo atteso CD della FTD conterrà uno show inedito e non uno di quelli già emessi in bootleg;

il CD che sarà intitolato "The Impossible Dream" (n° di catalogo 82876 59845-2), conterrà infatti  la registrazionedello show tenuto all' International Hotel di Las Vegas del 28 Gennaio 1971 (Dinner);

 ma dato che la registrazione di questo show è rovinata in diversi punti, è stato necessario ripristinare alcune parti sostituendole con quelle tratte dall'Opening Night del 26 Gennaio (Johnny B. Goode e Something).

CALLING ELVIS

In arrivo dalla Rock Legends un nuovo CD che conterrà una panoramica su tutte le conversazioni telefoniche attualmente conosciute di Elvis, incluse alcune assolutamente inedite fino a questo momento.

Il Cd dovrebbe ontenere la completa 'Hy Gardner interview', una rara terza conversazione con Gardner dell'8 Gennaio 1960 e la ultra rara intervista con il DJ hawaiiano Tom Moffet del 9 Gennaio 1959.
Come bonus track troveremo una inedito programma radiofonico della prima apparizione di Elvis in Canada il 2 Aprile 1957 con il reporter Bill Beaty.
Un'altra recente scoperta inclusa nel CD è il programma del Liberty Bowl Stadium di Memphis del 9 Agosto 1975 ed inoltre la registrazione del 4 Luglio 1976 denominata "End of Tour Party" nella quale Elvis è intervistato dal comico Jackie Kahane.

Il CD è confezionato in una copertina cartonata a tre pannelli con 18 foto di Elvis di diversi periodi con in mano il telefono. Il CD ha la durata di 70 minuti.

NESSUN SEGUITO PER IL 2ND TO NONE...

La BMG Inglese ha informato Elvis Express che non ci sarà nessun E3 (il seguito del "2nd To None" e del "ELV1S 30 #1 Hits") per quest'anno.

Ernst Jorgensen ha confermato la notizia: "Non c'e mai stata l'idea da parte nostra di produrre un seguito ai due CD nonostante qualcuno possa averlo pensato interpretando male le mie parole"

UN SINGOLO PER JAMES

James Burton e il cantante Belga Big Boy Frankie hanno di recente emesso un CD singolo dal titolo "A Little Bit Of Heaven". Il CD contiene due versione del brano omonimo, una cantata da Big Boy Frankie e una solo strumentale con la splendida chitarra di James in pieno risalto.

NUOVI BOX SET

Due nuovi set di CD particolarmente interessanti sono stati recentemente annunciati;

il primo consiste in un box di 4 CD che focalizza la sua attenzione sulle session della Sun Records mentre il secondo sarà un doppio CD con le complete sessions di "It Happened At The World's Fair".

Molto probabilmente i produttori di questi due nuovi set sono gli stessi che hanno già emesso gli splendidi cofanetti (per un totale di 15 CD) della serie "Unsurpassed Masters".

L'UOMO DALLA CINTURA D'ORO!! 

Il prossimo CD della Follow That Dream, disponibile dal 1° Aprile conterrà la registrazione SOUNDBOARD di un concerto a Las Vegas nel Gennaio '71 e si chiamerà "The Man With The Golden Belt".

La FTD sta accuratamente esaminando i cinque show disponibili di quel periodo e probabilmente proporrà uno show già disponibile su bootleg (che si tratti di uno dei già eccellenti 'All Things Are Possible' del 26 Gennaio o 'Lean Mean And Kickin' Butt' del 28 Gennaio o ancora del favoloso 'Snowbird' del 29 Gennaio???) integrato con il meglio dagli altri show non utilizzati.

FTD DIFETTOSI

A causa di un piccolo errore nella traccia 6 del CD "So High" uscito di recente, Ernst Jorgensen e la Follow That Dream rimpiazzeranno questo CD a tutti coloro che hanno riscontrato il difetto.

I clienti della FTD devono tenere il digipack perchè verrà rimpiazzato loro solo il CD. Il nuovo CD, chge verrà consegnato in una bustina di carta o di plastica, sarà disponibile con la prossima emissione della FTD fissata per il 1° Aprile 2004

Due nuovi CD bootleg sono stati annunciati e dovrebbero già essere in circolazione;

si tratta di "When The Blue Moon Turns To Gold Again", una registrazione amatoriale dello show di Seattle del 23 Aprile 1973 e di "Live At The H.I.C." della Whitestar che contiene la registrazione sempre amatoriale del concerto dell'18 Novembre 1972 a Honolulu.

ANCORA HAYRIDE!!

Ancora un doppio CD, prodotto alla fine del 2003, riguardante le performances alla Louisiana Hairide, dal titolo "Louisiana Hayride & Interviews With Elvis" della Dynamic Entertainment.

Contiene le solite apparizioni live alla Hairide più cinque interviste dal 1955 (Texarkana) al 1957 (Ottawa).

THE GREATEST ELVIS SONGS

Emesso questa settimana solo per la Cina questo nuovo set di 3 CD intitolato: "The Greatest Elvis Songs".

Questi tre CD sono confezionati in un jewel box a tre scomparti racchiuso in una copertina di cartone e sono stati registrati con il formato HDCD per una migliore qualità audio. I primi due CD contengono 24 tracce ciascuno mentre il terzo 20.

Alcuni tra i brani di questa compilation sono:
